Penzance, England

Today was a day of driving and a missed opportunity.

I moved from Bath to Penzance. Yes, the Penzance of the Broadway play fame. It was a fishing village in the far southwest corner of Britain. Due to it's position between the Atlantic and the English Channel, it was a prime location for pirates and smuglers.

Today, it's tourists.

The drive was mostly freeway driving until the last 30 miles or so (they use miles here, not kilometers). 2 or 4 lane road with roundabouts every 2 to 5 miles. Traffic would back up at each one.

The missed opportunity came after I got here. Just down the coast a mile or 2 is St. Michael's Mount. It's a pyramid shaped island about ½ mile from shore with a castle on top. I went over and took some photos, but the light wasn't very good. This was about 3:00 in the afternoon. So, I waited for the light to get better. It was windy and cool, so I waited in the car. About 4:00 it was better, but I thought it would be even better later, so I waited some more. Unfortunately, I fell asleep and when I woke, it had all clouded over. Drat! Anyway, this is what I got:
