Another trip!

When I got home from Africa last September, I realized that the trip had taught me how to do what I had always wanted to do - travel to Europe.

So, there were decisions to make. The first was where. After a couple of months thought, I decided on England. I like history and they've got lots of it. Hopefully there wouldn't be much of a language problem.

Next was when. After reading forums and travel sites, I decided on September. That's after the big tourist season of July and August and before the weather turns really rainy in November.

The itinerary was next. After searching around, I found a bare bones one on Rick Steve's website. He has been writing travel guides for Europe for 30 years or more. His website had several for England, ranging from 1 to 3 weeks. I chose the 3 week one and , after a minor change, settled on this:

Sept 2 – Leave Denver
Sept 3 - Arrive in London – train to Bath
Sept 4 – Explore Bath – Pickup car
Sept 5 – Explore Avebury, Wells, Glastonbury
Sept 6 – Drive to Penzance, Cornwall
Sept 7 – Explore Cornwall
Sept 8 – Drive to Salisbury, via Dartmore Natl Park.
Sept 9 - Explore Salisbury and Portsmouth
Sept 10 – Drive to Chipping Campden, explr Stonehenge, Oxford, Blenheim.
Sept 11 – Explore Cotswolds
Sept 12 – Dive to Ironbridge Gorge via Stratford, Warwick and Coventry
Sept 13 – Drive to Keswick
Sept 14 - Explore South lake district
Sept 15 – Explore North Lake district
Sept 16 – Drive to York via Hadrian's Wall and Durham
Sept 17 – Explore York
Sept 18 – Return car - Train to London
Sept 19 – Explore London
Sept 20 – Explore London
Sept 21 – Canterbury, Dover (train?)
Sept 22 – Greenwich, Windsor, Cambridge or Brighton
Sept 23 – Leave England
Sept 24 – Arrive Home

As of today, July 26, all the hotels are books and paid for, the plane reservations are made and paid for and the car is reserved. I bought a small camera for this and future trips. There are still things to do, but the biggest are done.

Still to do - maps for my GPS, get a carry-on bag, what clothes to take, get a SIM card for my phone, electrical adapters, notify the Credit Union of the trip so the credit and debit cards will be OK.

Other minor logistical details will get worked out between now and September 2.
